Edinburgh BUJ Open 2015
Scottish Grappling proudly presents the 4th annual Edinburgh Open which will take place on Saturday the 6th of June at Meadowbank Sports Centre, Edinburgh. The event will be contested under standard IBJJF rules.
We will be running both Gi and No-Gi divisions!
Early entry price for one division is £30, for both gi and no gi it's £40. This price will run until the 16th of May at midnight.
Late entry price is £40 for one division and £50 for both gi and no-gi. This runs until closing of entries on the 30th of May at midnight.
Once again we are offering free entry for brown and black belts. Simply enter the promo code "Elite" when asked during sign-up.
The gi competition is open to all belt divisions.
No gi divisions are by BJJ rank or time served. If you train at a Gi school then follow the BJJ Belt (taking into account the other restrictions mentioned), otherwise it's time served.
The divisions are: -
Beginner - (White belt or less than 18 months experience)
Intermediate - (Blue belts or between more than 18 months and less than 36 months experience)
Advanced (Purple belts and higher plus those who have grappled for more than 36 months)
There is a seniors division for competitors who are aged 35 or over.
Weigh-ins for those doing both gi and no-gi divisions will take place between 9am and 10am with the first no-gi divisions starting at 10am. If you are doing both gi and no-gi you only need to make weight once.
Weigh-ins for those only doing the gi divisions will take place between 12-1pm with the first gi divisions starting at 1pm.

Please note that divisions of less than 4 people will not run and will either be combined with the next highest weight category or moved down in age group automatically in the event of seniors entries.
Also Judo black belts, professional MMA fighters and those who have wrestled at a national level are ineligible to compete at white belt and must enter at blue belt minimum for gi and Intermediate for no gi regardless of BJJ grade.
All divisions will be run on a single elimination basis. Competitors who medal in their weight division will be eligible to enter the openweight division for the belt and experience level.For openweight divisions that have 16 or more competitors we are offering a £100 prize for each division winner!
Closing date for all entries will be midnight on Saturday the 30th of May, no entries will be accepted after this point and initial brackets will be available by no later than Sunday May 31st.
Competitors can inform the organiser of a change in weight division up until midnight on Wednesday the 4th of June, no changes in division will be considered after this date and any competitor who fails to make weight on the day will be disqualified without any possibility of refund. All payments must be made via paypal ahead of the event.
All competitors must make weight on our scales. There are no allowances given.
